Children and youth programme

Programmes are conducted for children and youth from both urban and rural areas of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. These programmes provide spaces for group discussions, panel presentations, and cultural workshops that engage participants on issues related to environmental changes and their various impacts on people.

The programmes also include exposure and exchange activities, allowing participants to engage with different experiences and perspectives. Seminars and meetings focus on themes such as economic development and people’s participation, gender sensitivity and the Panchayati Raj system.

Through these different forms of engagement, the programmes focus on creating opportunities for children and youth to discuss, understand and engage with issues concerning the environment, development, participation, gender and local governance.

Women Empowerment Programme

The Rural Women Development Programme is aimed at contributing to positive social change through women’s empowerment programmes conducted at the North and South India levels. The programmes focus on a range of issues affecting women and girls, with particular attention to education, social inequalities, health and women’s rights.

These include programmes addressing girls’ education, the deficiencies and challenges related to girls’ and women’s education, and the promotion of women’s education. The programmes also engage with issues of early marriage and the challenges posed by patriarchy.

Writing workshops for young women form another component of the programme, providing a space for young women to engage with writing and expression. Programmes also address issues of violence against women and the wider concerns surrounding women’s safety and dignity.

Through these different programmes and activities, the Rural Women Development Programme focuses on women’s empowerment and on addressing social issues that affect women and girls.

Save the Coasts

The programme engages young people with issues related to the coast, the ocean and communities whose livelihoods depend on them. It focuses on the ecological importance of coastal and marine spaces, small-scale fisheries and the livelihoods connected to coastal and marine resources.

Workshops, training programmes and other learning activities address coastal and marine rights, the concerns of coastal communities, the concept of the Blue Economy and challenges faced by people dependent on these natural resources. The programme also provides opportunities for youth to undertake research and documentation on issues affecting coastal communities and their environments.

Youth are encouraged to interact with people, collectives and other organisations, enabling them to explore the concerns and struggles associated with coastal and marine spaces. Through these activities, the programme seeks to strengthen youth participation in understanding and responding to issues concerning coastal environments, livelihoods and rights.
